Re: William Carvalho
Because there's no need, he's a decent enough passer.

You could always look up their passing stats. My favourite in one game last season, Kouyate made 13 completed passes. From central midfield, THIRTEEN.

That takes some doing, especially considering he never passes more that 5 yards.

Re: William Carvalho
Unfortunately there’s absolutely no rumours like that about Obiang.....

Re: William Carvalho
There's a rumour going about that Kouyate was seen making a pass of more than 5 yards to a teammate whilst training for Senegal.

I know, it''s very hard to believe, but maybe there is hope yet.

He’s 31 don’t really see that being old for a player who looks after himself and Noble always plays his best football with good players around him
Not sure how many free kicks payet scored I can think of four and two were in the cup but he did score 11 that season which Anderson hasn’t managed before I’d be more concearned with that rather than can he take a free kick

Anderson could be great but there are no free kicks there which is big part of what Payet did. Seemingly, this will be different system that requires more control in the midfield than we had that season. (And Noble, the best current passer in there is 2 years older, when it starts to count.)

We challenged for a champions league spot with those two in midfield, but the next season we lost Payet and replaced him with Snodgrass. Makes sense to me to buy a player in the payet mould.
Doesn’t mean I don’t think if we can buy better we shouldn’t replace Noble and Kouyate

I'd be happy to bring in a few decent loans to cover us this season in the attacking midfield roles whilst the injured players work their way back.

Personally I'd be directing most of the budget in the central midfield area that has been a problem for us for the last few seasons. Yes we do have cover there, but we seriously lack quality in this position.

There are lots of typed sentences, I would love to try again.

do you want to try that last sentence again?

Depends where Pelegrinni sees people like Masuaku or even Arnautovic.

But I agree in principle and don't think we should be turning up our noses at people like Candreva while Lanzini is out.
Cambiasso did was a real asset a Leicester for a year.

Re: William Carvalho
we need at least 2 attacking midfielders as we currently have none

aqntonio may be fit for the start of the seaon but with no pre seaon behind him you'd have to e mental to reply on him staying fit

that is more important than improving a position we are covered in

Re: William Carvalho
Eggbert Nobacon 2:32 Mon Jul 2

I said way back on Anderson that we should not spend more that 30mil on him because we needed at minimum two midfielders, one attacking and one DM from the rest of a 75 mill budget.

It would seem, however, that the manager thinks he will have more money than that, if he wants to spend what we are looking at now on Anderson and have a number of other players.

Still 2 quality players in those positions is going be a lot, hence working with what we have somewhat.

Eggbert Nobacon 2:41 Mon Jul 2
Re: William Carvalho
like I say though as things stand we have NOBODY to play in front of this midfield

Re: William Carvalho
I think 1 or 2 players can make a massive difference to the same team, especially if they are in the middle of the park.

I remember when Pardew lost Cabaye and they just plummeted.

When we lost Payet I think it exposed so many other problems we had in midfield.

SOmetimes just knowing that the player behind you can cover any mistake you make changes how you play. You go forward more, take more risks etc.. When you think you have no cover u just dont do as much.

I'm surprised that we're looking to put so much of the budget on this Anderson bloke. I think central midfield is definitely the priority area that needs fixing.

Mario has gone and Lanzini is injured asisAntonio so we have not a single fit attacking midfield player unless you count Snodgrass. That is the priority

As plenty on here have said, surely we can't have another season plodding along with Noble and Kouyate. Doesn't matter what changes we make to back four and keeper, we'll still ship loads if it's those two sitting in front of them.

I don't think we are in relegation trouble at all if he or Dendoncker came.

But it's just opinions on scenarios on an internet site at the day.

Re: William Carvalho
I love there's still people who reckon that Carvalho was the missing piece of the jigsaw that was holding us back last season.

We needed improving pretty much everywhere on the pitch as far as I'm concerned, and paying over £30m for Carvalho wouldn't have made much of a difference to our leaky defence.

Probably right.

Just trying to be realistic in that we can't replace everyone.

I think we need the possession/passing/control player and maybe we get the terrier guy out of what we have already.

One of each I'd say. Similar to when Chelsea had Kante and Matic in their title winning year.

So you could have Carvalho sat alongside someone like Seri or Hector Herrera from the players we've been linked to in that role. Our midfield options vary from average to absolute dross, I think we need at least two signings in this area.
